When applying skincare products, does the way you apply them matter?
I've been wondering about this for a while. Say, for a toner product, it says to apply with a cotton pad or sheet... Does it matter if you just apply it with your fingers like a lotion? For exfoliators, it usually says to scrub in a circular motion, and for some creams it says to "apply in gentle, upward strokes" and etc. Does the way you apply skincare products matter?

- stay away from sand paper i think ull be fine
- yes. add it evenly everywhere. and rub it in till dry.
- yes.. it does
- absolutely not slather it on any way you like if it's going to work, it will work. if it's another scam all you are doing is using more of their product so you need buy more. how you put it on is immaterial
- Yes, if you scrub too hard you can damage your skin. Especially if you put too much of a product on that leaves you prone to sun damage. You might also want to use a cotton pad or sheet because our fingers contain oil or something like that.
- Think of toner as a cleaner. - You could apply windex to a mirror without the paper towel... but it would mostly just be smearing things around. You need the cotton to actually sweep the gunk away. Thats why the cotton is tinted grey/brown when it is used. Exfoliators, the circles are to keep you moving GENTLY and not overscrubbing the same spot. Creams, the upward strokes may be a hogwash. It comes from the idea that you should never "drag your skin down" because it will cause it to be droopy. In theory... if you really pulled hard, and did it everyday for 20 years I guess that would be true... but I dont think most people do that - so I think the risk is minimal. DO follow dirrections about how close you can put things to your eyes, especially with harsh ingredients - those can damage delicate eye tissue. Otherwise I would consider the dirrections on the bottle to be a hint, not a command. Good Luck, God Bless!

- well moisturisers and anything thats like a cream, you should follow the way it says to get optimum results for creams if you choose to use your fingers never sweep it across your eyearea always dab it and for the rest of your face toners and wrinkle creams are best used by stroking upwards to taughten the face exfoliators need to be in circular motions to get the best effect but if that one says gentle upward strokes it probably has very tough bits in it so circles would make your face sore. Try upward strokes and if it seems like its not working then use circular motions all creams and products try and tell you the best way to apply them to get the most out of the product if you choose not to do it as they say it probably wont work as well as it could do, so try and stick to reccomendations if you can if not it wont work as well but it will probably still work a bit hope this helps xx
